Over the last several years, the body of scientific research with the Period of PURPLE Crying has grown significantly. The NCSBS and our partners are committed to continuing to improve and strengthen the PURPLE program through on-going evaluation. Continued research with the program is what drives many of the changes and enhancements that are made to the program content and to the model. Our overall aim is build a program that is highly effective in improving parents and caregivers understanding of normal infant crying and ultimately reduce the incidence of SBS/AHT.
Nausea is an uneasiness of the stomach that often precedes vomiting. Nausea and vomiting are not diseases, but they are symptoms of many conditions. There are numerous cases of nausea and vomiting. Some causes may not require medical treatment, for example, motion sickness, and other causes may require medical treatment by a doctor, for example, heart attack, lung infections, bronchitis, and pneumonia.
Some causes of nausea and vomiting may be life threatening, for example, heart attack, abdominal obstruction, and cancers.
Treatment of nausea and vomiting depends upon the cause.
